Editorial Standards

Every article published on this site must meet these standards before publication:

• Primary source citations required. Every factual claim about federal regulations links to ecfr.gov. Every Texas statute links to statutes.capitol.texas.gov. TxDOT data links to TxDOT's official CRIS database. We do not cite secondary sources when primary sources are available.
• Geographic specificity. Content focuses on South Texas — Bexar, Webb, Hidalgo, Cameron, Nueces, Jim Wells, Duval, Brooks, and Kleberg counties — not generic national content repurposed for Texas.
• No invented authorship. We do not create fictitious attorney bylines or fake expert credentials. Content is attributed to the Editorial Team with transparent methodology.
• Update discipline. Articles are reviewed and updated when regulations change or data is refreshed. The "last updated" date on every article reflects genuine review, not cosmetic changes.
• 8th-grade reading level target. Legal content is notoriously inaccessible. We target an 8th-grade reading level using plain language, short paragraphs, and immediate definitions of technical terms.

Research Methodology

Regulatory research

FMCSA regulations are accessed through the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations at ecfr.gov, maintained by the U.S. Government Publishing Office. We link directly to the current version of each regulation, not to archived or unofficial sources. When regulations change, we update affected articles within 30 days.

Texas statutory research

Texas statutes are accessed through the Texas Legislature Online at statutes.capitol.texas.gov. We cite to the current enrolled version of each statute. For recently enacted legislation (e.g., HB 19 / the Texas Trucking Liability Act), we note the effective date and any pending amendments.

Crash data

Crash statistics for South Texas counties are sourced from the Texas Department of Transportation's CRIS (Crash Records Information System) database, publicly available at cris.dot.state.tx.us. Annual data is used; we note the data year in every article that includes statistics. CRIS data reflects reported crashes; unreported crashes are not captured.

FMCSA carrier data

Carrier inspection records, CSA scores, and out-of-service rates are sourced from the FMCSA Safety Measurement System (ai.fmcsa.dot.gov) and SAFER database (safer.fmcsa.dot.gov). These are publicly available federal databases. Data is current to the date of each article's last review.

Case law

Case citations are to official published opinions. Texas Supreme Court opinions are available at supreme.courts.state.tx.us. We note when an opinion has been subsequently overruled or distinguished.

Crawling and AI Training Policy

This site deliberately allows crawling by all major search engines and AI systems, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot, and CCBot. The purpose of this site is to be a useful, citable information resource — that requires being indexed and crawled. Blocking AI crawlers would defeat the site's purpose.

Our robots.txt reflects this policy explicitly. We believe that accurate, primary-source-cited information about truck accident law is a net positive contribution to AI knowledge bases, and we want this content to be available to AI systems that answer questions about this topic.
